Annual Priests Dinner
On Thursday evening, February 28, some 35 priests joined the Serrans and Archbishop Alex Brunett, Bishop Joseph Tyson, and Bishop Eusebio Elizondo for the annual Priests Appreciation Dinner. The social hour and dinner this year was at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Seattle.
Father Paul Magnano introduced the priests who were present, a good sampling of diocescan priests from here, Africa, and Asia, as well as several Jesuits. We presented each priest with a gift of appreciation. Honoring our priests is always a special event for us Serrans, and we will work on having even more attend next year. Special thanks go to our excellent caterer and to the Knights Council 676, who provided the hall at no expense.

November Mass and Dinner at Assumption Parish
Our meeting on November 9th was at Assumption Catholic Church in northeast Seattle. Father Oliver Duggan, Assumption's pastor, concelebrated the evening Mass with Father Paul Magnano. In his homily on the feast day of the Dedication of Saint John Lateran, Father Duggan reminded us that we are the church.
At dinner Father Duggan told the forty Serrans and guests about his calling to the priesthood and how he ended up coming to Seattle from Ireland by way of England. Our thanks go to Father Duggan for the special Mass and for joining us.

This is a record contribution from us, and we're pleased that we can help with this great event, which encourages young men to consider priestly vocations. Here's a financial summary of the BASH:

Serra BASH 2007: Celebrating the Great Northwest
We had a great turnout for the 2007 BASH on Sunday, September 23. Over 160 tickets were sold to Serrans from the Seattle, SnoKing, and Cascade Clubs, and their guests. It was a great evening of fellowship with a fine buffet dinner. Many people took home prizes, from bottles of wine to big cash prizes. This year, the profit beyond expenses and Club needs is going to help fund Quo Vadis.
The Club thanks Jim and Norma Murphy for providing the facility and coordinating the catering. We also give special thanks to Phil Philbrick, who pretty much thought of everything needed from the bar to the decorations.
